Finally...a creative weekend!

1/25/2015

So many weekends have to be devoted to cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and school work that finally having what I like to call a "me day" is such a treat! On Saturday, I spent several hours at the Dayton Art Institute with some of the other Muse Machine club advisors from other Miami Valley schools. After a docent-led tour of Art Deco Japan, a gorgeous exhibit of artworks spanning 1920-1945, we enjoyed a delicious meal in the museum's Leo Bistro, accompanied by plenty of lively conversation about art, our schools, and life in general. The afternoon was spent learning how to create origami boxes from paper that we decorated ourselves using a variety of printmaking objects. I had so much fun that as soon as I got home, I got out my origami papers and made a few smaller boxes just to be sure I would remember how to do it!
