The past few weeks have been wonderful, busy ones...family reunion at Center Hill Lake, Tennessee, lots of time with my grandsons, and now a little bit of "down time" to do some jewelry designing. I just sent in my entry to the Blu Mudd Design Team challenge this evening. Too soon to reveal what I did, since the entry must remain anonymous, but I'm looking forward to the feedback in the coming weeks. For now, I'm just playing around with some new ideas...and working on my Etsy store site with hopes of opening on August 1, 2015. I didn't win my first contest attempt with Happy Mango Beads, but that's ok. I learned a lot from looking at the other entries and I did get a coupon for 20% off my next purchase, which is still a nice perk for doing what I like doing anyway. It also gave my work a new direction because up until that contest, I had seldom created any jewelry from repurposed objects. I'll definitely be doing more of that in the future! This latest contest is sponsored by Moriah Betterly of the Blu Mudd Design Team and Blu Bayou Soap Co. I found her on Facebook through a link from another jewelry artist and decided to take chance at trying something new. This contest is limited to 30 participants because Moriah made multiple sets of three beads for each designer to use in his or her creations. Here are the three pieces, but I won't be posting any other work on this until the contest is over. Judging is by members of the Blu Mudd group voting online, so the images have to remain anonymous until after the winners are announced. I've started working on my pieces, actually already ripped apart my first two attempt, so I'm far from finished. I have until July 25 to submit a photo of my work and then will have to wait a week until the voting is over before I know how I fared. No matter what, I'm enjoying the challenge!
